Why study philosophy?

1) Because it’s a filler subject in Ateneo; we have no choice. (peace ya’ll)
2) Because we have to know to integrate our real life experience and insights into those essay random philosohers have come up with. Even if it’s such a chore to read, much less comprehend.
3) Because life is about looking beyond the text and understanding ourselves and the world around us as human beings. Meh, philo just proves to us how capable we are at pwning oral exams and how deep we can think about the real meaning of being alive itself.

Frankly though, I don’t succumb to flattery. I think people have praised me one way or another by saying that they find me quite calm and not so much of a worrywart in the midst of academic pressure, or when I’ve achieved something and I take their jokingly snide remark (e.g. sorry na, patron seats kasi eh!) as a form or praise by itself. I’ve also been hit on by torpe guys (and in some cases, girls) in school a few times, and I usually take their flattery as some sort of joke. Kung minsan nakikiride ako by saying, “I know right” or “I know, I’m awesome”, but it’s just for the sake of sounding funny, and letting them know that I’m not a completely KJ person so as to throw their congeniality and good intentions aside. :))
